  1. Understanding of Taiwan’s black tea history.
  2. A look into Sun Moon Lake and it’s sponsored black tea production influence.
  3. New trends regarding black teas within Taiwan’s counties and districts.
  4. What cultivars are being utilized in Taiwanese black tea.
  5. Knowledge of new types of black teas that are popular within the Taiwan market and how they came about (from high mountain to specific types growing in popularity i.e. Honey Black Tea from Sanxia).

Summary:This fun and informative lecture briefly outlines the history of how tea bags came to be. We will explore the different types of tea bags – the size, the materials of which they are made then talk about how tea is packed in tea bags. Lots of fun facts and vintage tea and tea bag graphics. There will be discussion about the grades of tea and tea processing – very important.

Presentation: Utilitarian Quality Tea Service – Raising the bar for tea quality and tea service

Presenter: Paul Argier

Summary: How can we drink better tea on a day-to-day basis? What tools are required? What kind of shifts do we wish to see as the world’s “Tea IQ” increases?

The idea of tea is often clouded in misconceptions and misunderstandings. As our exposure to better quality tea becomes more accessible, and so-called “tea masters” and “tea sommeliers” present themselves, it is important to frame the information in the most responsible way possible. With so many sub-regions and tea styles to study, how can we keep tea fun, conversational, and integrate this information into our daily lives?
